There is a large gap between the estimated TB burden in South Africa and the number of people with TB notified to the Department of Health due to underreporting and diagnosis – a gap made larger as a result of COVID-19. This webinar will focus on strategies to improve TB screening and testing and to minimise the impact of COVID-19 on TB services.
This webinar will introduce the role of the TB Think Tank in rapidly responding to TB challenges, the new systematic TB screening guidelines to improve identification of presumptive TB in target groups, and an intervention study which connects symptomatic clients of private GPs in eThekwini to free TB testing by GeneXpert through NHLS.
