Remember that commercial foods are advertised as "complete diets", but are by NO MEANS nutritionally complete. I DO NOT recommend using only one kind of commercial food. Even if you don't feel comfortable making your own seed mix with natural, organic ingredients - buy a variety of seed and pellet mixes to make sure that your pet is getting everything that they need to be happy and healthy.
Ingredients to avoid in general: corn, molasses, potatoes and sweet potatoes, avocados, garlic, onions, too many dried fruits, questionable or unsafe dried vegetables, too many fatty nuts (sunflower seeds, peanuts, soybeans, pumpkin seeds, etc.)
