Dr. O discusses why a dental cleaning at your first new patient visit may not be in your best interest!
1) Personalized Care - "You are a person, not a number." - At the first visit, we make a conscious effort to get to know you and create a relationship that develops trust and comfort.
2) Proper Records and Diagnosis - Your care is only as good as the diagnosis, the diagnosis is only as good as the records. Since proper quality and adequate records are the start to any successful treatment, we spend sufficient time at our new patient visit to acquire all the records necessary to give you the best! At this time, we diagnose what type of cleaning you will need. The three types of cleanings are prophylaxis, full mouth debridement (FMD), and scaling and root planning (SRP).
3) Financial Clarity - We know that no one likes to talk money, and we understand that you want to invest your hard earned dollar wisely. We work with you to develop a financial plan that takes away the confusion that can often accompany your benefits plan and the cost associated with dental care.
While there are many ways to perform the new patient appointment, we have decided that cleaning teeth at the first appointment is not best for our patients. We spend the first 1-1.5 hour appointment making sure we address all of the patient's concerns, rather than trying perform a cleaning that may not be the one you need. At the conclusion of our New Patient Appointment, we schedule you for a cleaning that will adress your individual needs.
