Gov. Jay Inslee hosts a press conference on April 4, 2023 on state actions to protect access to medical abortion care
ADVISORY:
Gov. Inslee and legislators will hold a press conference Tuesday, April 4 at 11:30 a.m. to discuss efforts underway to maintain access to medical abortion care in Washington.
A federal judge in Texas is expected to issue a ruling in a case that could dramatically limit the availability of medications that induce abortions, such as mifepristone, across the country. This decision could impact states where abortion is currently legal.
Sen. Karen Keiser and Rep. Jessica Bateman are sponsoring legislation related to this effort and will join the governor for this press conference. Sen. Manka Dhingra and Reps. Marcus Riccelli and My-Linh Thai will also attend.
Inslee will also be joined by Attorney General Bob Ferguson, who will discuss current mifepristone litigation.
