Former Government Minister Vijay Daryanani says people are "rightly" questioning the timing of the inquiries legislation, accepting this gives rise to a 'perception' issue.
But Mr Daryanani thinks we need to get through the inquiry before passing judgement.
The legislation will be applicable to the McGrail Inquiry into the former police commissioner's early retirement and would grant the Government the power to suspend or end inquiries. It was passed last week following strong objections to it from the Opposition as well as Ian McGrail's lawyers.
Mr Daryanani was speaking to Gibraltar Today about the view from outside Government following his four years in the role of Business and Tourism Minister.
