On November 14th, Dr. Eefje Aarnoudse from H-BRS/INTERFACES presented an insightful colloquium on her meta-research into transdisciplinary research funding programmes in Germany and Africa. Transdisciplinary approaches are valuable for tackling complex societal challenges, but they also come with hurdles, such as limited resources and the time-intensive process of building trust among stakeholders.
Dr. Aarnoudse shared highlights from two workshops held in Germany and Ghana, featuring perspectives from funders, researchers, and practitioners. She also introduced a recent working paper by H-BRS addressing these challenges. The discussion with participants explored innovative ideas to support transdisciplinary research and highlights the need to evaluate these approaches by funders but also within research teams to learn for future project development.
