1. China has just announced that the EU High Representative for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy Josep Borrell will visit China, how does China evaluate the current China-EU relations? What are China's expectations for dialogue?
This year marks the 20th anniversary of the establishment of the comprehensive strategic partnership between China and the EU. China welcomes the visit of High Representative Josep Borrell to China and holds a high-level strategic dialogue with State Councillor and Foreign Minister Qin Gang. This will be conducive to implementing the important consensus reached by the leaders of the two sides and injecting new impetus into the development of China-EU relations and world peace, stability and prosperity.
2. Can you confirm reports that China is planning to impose a no-fly zone north of Taiwan from Apr 16 to 18?
I’m not aware of the situation and would refer you to the competent department.
3. Taiwan has accused Chinese fishing crews of repeatedly cutting the island’s undersea cable. Does China have any response to this?
I do not have relevant information, but what I can tell you is that the Taiwan DPP authorities have acted as pawns of the anti-China force to contain China with Taiwan for their own political interests, turning Taiwan into a powder keg and tying Taiwan compatriots to the chariot of Taiwan independence. This is despicable.
4. China also announced German Foreign Minister Annalena Baerbock’s visit to China, how does China evaluate the current China-Germany relations? What are China's expectations for this visit?
During Foreign Minister Baerbock's visit to China, State Councillor and Foreign Minister Qin Gang will co-chair the sixth round of the China-Germany Strategic Diplomatic and Security Dialogue, and conduct comprehensive and in-depth communication on China-Germany, China-EU relations and international and regional hotspot issues.
We believe that under the current international situation, the holding of strategic dialogue between the two foreign ministers is conducive to implementing the important consensus of the leaders of the two countries, strengthening strategic communication, consolidating strategic mutual trust, deepening strategic cooperation, continuing to enrich the connotation of the China-Germany all-round strategic partnership, and jointly addressing global challenges.
5. On April 11, the China Cyber Security Industry Alliance released a report revealing more than 10 cases of cyber attacks and network surveillance by US intelligence agencies exposed since 2010. What is China's comment on this?
The United States is the initiator of cyber warfare, the largest proliferator of advanced cyber weapons, and the world's largest cyber eavesdropper. The so-called clean network and technology that the United States wants are nothing more than networks and technologies that allow itself to steal secrets and hack other countries at will, ensuring its hegemony. The United States has always required a lot from other countries while setting a quite low threshold for itself, explicitly showing its double standards.
7. U.S. Secretary of State Antony Blinken said on Tuesday the United States would stand with the Philippines against coercion and intimidation in the South China Sea. Given that China recently said that the US-Philippine military exercises should not affect the situation in the South China Sea, do you have any specific response to the US remarks?
