Here I show a 3 step method to be sure that you are making the most efficient entry into a holding pattern even when you don't have a moving map in the airplane.

First you visualize the hold, then you verify the guess using the "thumb method", and finally you think in front of the airplane using the 5 T's. In flying, if you catch a mistake before it happens it didn't really happen.
