STORYLINE:
The Cuban Foreign Ministry made a public statement on Saturday that it "confirms and ratifies openly" the declarations made by the Cuban ambassador to Mexico, Jorge Bolanos, in the Mexican media about the Ahumada case.
Cuba's vice foreign minister Bruno Rodriguez-Parilla called a news conference in Havana to make the statement, but added that the ministry would not comment more on this long running corruption case making headlines in Mexico.
In May 2004, Cuba said it had videos that proved Carlos Ahumada, a Mexican business mogul arrested in Havana, was part of a larger government conspiracy to smear leftist politicians in Mexico.
Mexico denied that and accused Cuba's Communist Party of interfering in domestic politics by holding unauthorised political meetings in Mexico
.
Mexican news media recently released a series of new videos that would allegedly implicate more members of opposition presidential candidate Andres Manuel Lopez Obrador's party and his collaborators in acts of corruption.
Lopez Obrador was Mayor of Mexico City in 2004.
