- 10th Imam, Imam ‘Ali al-Naqi al-Hãdi, is second Imam whose Imamate started at a very young age
- one Imam is emphasizing on a point more than others, then it is important to understand the historical context in which that Imam lived.
- One of the rulers of the Imam’s time was Mutawakkil: he ruled for 15 years and is known for his extreme hatred towards the Ahlul Bayt (a).
- In the year 236 AH, he tried to get the grave of Imam ?usayn (a) levelled so that no trace of it would remain. He banned the ziyarat to the grave of Imam ?usayn and even posted check points to the roads leading to the grave.
- Imam ‘Ali an-Naqi al-Hadi (a) highlights the importance of ziyarat and actually composed two important ziyarats: one the famous az-ziyaratu ’l-jami‘ah al-kabirah that can recited at the shrine of any of the Imams and another the Ziyaratu ’l-Ghadir.
