The outgoing Chief of Defence Forces General Samson Mwathethe has bowed out handing over the command of the military to his successor General Robert Kibochi. In an elaborate ritual conducted at the Defense Headquarters in Nairobi, General Mwathethe formally hanged his boots after an outstanding 42-year career in the military. Amid praise from fellow generals and top government officials, the soft-spoken Mwathethe expressed confidence that he leaves behind a more professional force that is will capable of safeguarding the country and its interests.
