Sky News host James Morrow says the head of the Journal of the American Medical Association being cancelled is “very sinister”.
Chief Editor of the Journal of the American Medical Association Dr Howard Bauchner was put on leave after one of his sub-editors got in hot water for asserting structural racism is an “unfortunate term” in the medical profession.
In a podcast for the journal, Dr Ed Livingston said, “taking racism out of the conversation will help,” and that people are “offended by the implication that we are somehow racist”.
The journal then promoted the podcast with a tweet which read “No physician is racist, so how can there be structural racism in health care?”.
Dr Bauchner said the comments were “inaccurate, offensive, and hurtful” but a petition signed by 7,000 people sought to remove him and make him ultimately responsible.
This is “very sinister news,” according to Mr Morrow.
