Rivington Pike stands some 360 metres on the West Pennine Moors. Each Easter thousands of people make the trip to the top of this hill "hiking the pike"
At the base of the hill are amusement rides, burger vans and side stalls and is a magnet for children. Most years its cold and often raining but this year has been the best Easter for many years and more and more people have made the trip. On Easter Saturday is the Pike race where athletes and other runners run up the pike from Horwich Crown and back and they do the 3.25 miles in under 18 minutes with the 350 metre ascent!
