A high-elevation departure from Bogotá on a cloudy morning just after sunrise. This flight was operated by Avianca Perú—formerly TACA Perú—and this aircraft still had the old TACA interior, which is not as nice as the newer Avianca A320 series interiors and was looking pretty worn, but I was tired enough after my overnight flight from Los Angeles right before this that I still felt comfortable.
It was a busy morning at the airport, so we were delayed a little bit getting out of our gate, but once we did we started making our way out to Runway 13R for takeoff. This took us past the CATAM facility of the Colombian Air Force as well as the hangar for the National Police, both of which had a bunch of classic aircraft parked there. The takeoff was fairly long for an A319 due to the higher elevation, and as soon as we got off the ground we could see the city. After takeoff, we turned right to head west, and once we got out of the city we turned to the South to head in the direction of our destination.
