The Global Village Foundation. Bali Wheelchair team together with our partners Wheelchairs for Kids Australia celebrated International Disability Week 2024 by donating 170 fully adaptive Children’s wheelchairs to 170 disadvantaged children living with severe disabilities 1000 kilometers west of Bali, in the mountainous region of Ciamis, Garut, & Bandung Barat in West Java.
Sadly very few disabled children in Indonesia, with mobility issues, ever get to own a wheelchair, & because of that, never get to go to school, or receive any professional care.
They spend their lives, often in the most basic conditions lying on soiled mattresses or dusty floors, staring endlessly at the same four walls & ceiling, hidden away in the villages, enduring zero quality of life, poor health, & poor life expectancy.
Global Village Foundation is committed to change this situation, not just in Bali, but throughout Indonesia, in collaboration with our friends & regional partners across the country.
Since January 2021, the Global Village team has donated and fitted nearly 3000 ‘WHEELCHAIRS FOR KIDS’ fully adaptive wheelchairs to disabled children in Bali, Java, Sumatra, Flores, & Kalimantan, changing forever the lives of the beautiful children who have received them.
In 2025 the Globalvillagefoundation team will (hopefully with the kind support of our ‘Global Citizen’ friends from around the world ) donate & fit wheelchairs to many more disadvantaged disabled children across Indonesia, to the islands of Borneo (Kalimantan), Flores, Sulawesi, Timor, Lombok, North Sumatra, Papua (plus many of the small outlying islands) & of course Bali.
Getting children mobile with a Custom fitted fully adaptive wheelchair that can grow with their needs, and is suited for the rough terrain village environments where they often live, is an absolute ’life changer’ for the child.
One has only to read the happiness written all over the faces of the children and their families featured in this short video to see how important, & how grateful these children (and their families) are for the gift of a fitted wheelchair.
If you can, please take a few moments to enjoy this video.
At GVF we believe that helping those who live with severe disability, is not simply a gesture of charity. It is an act of social justice.
Thank you for your time to read this post🙏🙏🙏
