So I found out that Shortening of the iliacus and psoas muscles deep in your pelvis from on and off desk and car sitting can absolutely cause pain in the lower back, hips, groin, and upper thighs and tightness in the neck and shoulders. The imbalance It throws your system off. Now I'm wondering if my upper trap tightness and Tinnitus are related. So, I'm using my "body hook" daily now.
This muscle shortening can be due to prolonged sitting or driving or a lack of stretching. Trigger points in the iliopsoas muscle are also a potential cause of discomfort and pain in the lower back. The precise causes of trigger points are still being explored by researchers, but a current hypothesis is that trigger points are points in the body where a small number of muscle cells are stuck in a state of contraction. Those points refer to sensations, including possible pain, in other body areas. Whenever the psoas muscle contracts, it pulls the spine into a condition known as hyperlordosis. The muscle pulls and shortens the spine into an over-arched position, putting a lot of strain on your spinal muscles. When the psoas contracts, it strains your vertebral joints, resulting in back pain.
