You can build this in a number of ways to price well below the $5999 Mac Pro; AMD Threadripper 3 3970x, AMD 3950x, or even an Intel 10980xe would be cheaper. For GPUs, you have your pick with the Nvidia 2070 Super, 2080, 2080ti, or even AMD 5700/5700XT.

At least for the cheaper $5999-$10,000 Mac Pro configurations, you can definitely get a lot more performance for your dollar.
