Heavy rains in Karnataka's Bengaluru locked the city in enormous floods, bringing the city's regular operations to a standstill. As the city was paralyzed, Bengaluru's civic bodies decided to take matters into their own hands. As the rains subsided and the streets cleared, civic organizations in Bengaluru located and designated as many as 700 illegal encroachments that had reportedly been obstructing storm drains in the city, resulting in flooded streets and residential areas. Now, a Karnataka minister has threatened that the flood-causing encroachments in Bengaluru, which caused crores of rupees in damage, will all be destroyed in the style of the "Noida Twin Towers-like demolition."
