(7 Oct 2015) A group of Argentine veterans of the Falklands War on Wednesday began construction of a small building they plan to use to stage their ongoing protests in the capital Buenos Aires.
The small, red brick building is going up just metres (feet) from the Government House.
These Falkland War veterans have taken turns camping out for seven years in the central Plaza de Mayo square calling for pension benefits.
During the 1982 conflict against the British for control of the islands, called Las Malvinas by Argentina, they mainly guarded the coastline and offered support services, but didn't fight in battle.
A total of 400 of these veterans are asking for pension benefits.
The government has recognised them as veterans, but has refused to compensate them because they were not on the frontlines.
Ongoing talks about pension benefits broke down in recent weeks.
Authorities have threatened to mobilise armed police to halt the construction, but the men say they will continue with their brick and mortar protest until the government resumes talks.
