Human Rights Watch published a report alleging that Israel had deployed white phosphorous bombs in Gaza and Lebanon, putting civilians at risk of serious and long-term injuries. White phosphor can burn its victims down to the bone and cause permanent disabilities. Therefore, its deployment in civilian areas is prohibited by international human rights laws.
