HDMI 2.1 brings auto low latency mode (ALLM) and variable refresh rate (VRR) gaming functionality to the Xbox One X. That VRR functionality of HDMI 2.1 is similar to Free Sync and G-Sync, The HDMI 2.1 is also for gamers to be able to enjoy those features on the 4K TVs in the near future. So expect upcoming 4K TVs to support it. It's even being added to the firmware of existing 4K TVs on the market, and also being added to the Xbox One X through software update.
