What is a nematode? This video for kids talks all about the animals of the Nematoda phylum. And to answer that question, they're small, slender worms. They can range from microscopic in size to almost three FEET! Gross! On average, though, they are about two inches long.
It is estimated that there could be as many as 500,000 types of nematodes in the world. And a portion of these are parasitic, meaning they feed off of other living organisms to survive. They have radial symmetry in their heads but bilateral symmetry on their bodies. They are generally cylindrical in shape too, and they have no organs.
