A 1952 recording with the Netherlands Chamber Choir under the direction of Felix de Nobel. This mass is believed to be the test case for the survival of polyphonic music at the Council of Trent in 1562. There was a great deal of concern over the use of imitation in music making the text difficult to comprehend. Palestrina wrote this mass and became the "savior of polyphony".
