The World Race August 2020 Route 1 journey empowers you to:

Grow with God: Ministry will be both challenging and rewarding during your journey. You will have to trust God to be your strength as you minister with people affected by drug addiction, homelessness, and violence. It’s a year to grow and discover the call God’s placed on your life.

Find Community: You’ll discover healthy communication and problem-solving solutions that will help your team thrive. You’ll be able to take what you learned once the Race is over and continue to live in Gospel-centered community - no matter where God calls you next.

Make a Difference: You will witness God’s heart of redemption as you serve among indigenous tribal churches, unreached communities scarred by histories of violence, and major metropolitan cities.

This route is for those who have a heart for the broken. This route explores areas that have a long history of ethnic division or racial tension. You’ll go to countries that have a deep religious divide between Christianity and Islam or an old, more Orthodox Church and a new Gospel movement.

You’ll begin your journey in Latin America in the Caribbean. First, you’ll serve in Columbia, the Dominican Republic, and Haiti. These communities are deeply affected by brokenness, drug addiction, and systemic poverty. Next, you’ll move into West Africa, which acts as a gateway to the Muslim countries of the North. Côte d'Ivoire, Ghana, and Togo have histories of conflict and ethnic tension.

Then, your route progresses into the Middle East and the more unreached countries of Eastern Europe, where you have this deep divide between Christians and Muslims. You have long histories of the Orthodox Church and dead religious systems where the Lord is breathing new life into them. You’ll arrive in countries like Lebanon, which is split 50/50 between Christians and Muslims. Bosnia and Albania in Europe have two of the largest Muslim populations on the continent. Lastly, Your route will end in Cyprus and Turkey, the heart of the Muslim world, where most of your ministry will be focused on direct relational Evangelism to those who might not have heard the Gospel before.

This is a route with a wide variety of ministry opportunities. It’s going to be great.
