STORYLINE:
Last year, climate activists who focus on disability rights scored a major victory at the United Nations climate change conference known as COP.
They gained official status as a caucus recognized by the U.N. Secretariat, the conference organizer.
They say it was the culmination of years of effort to be officially included in the proceedings.
As a result, this year people will have the chance to make a statement to conference attendees about disability inclusion.
They'll be provided an official space to gather.
They'll also have more access to the conference organizer, which means it will be easier for them to connect with other constituencies and disabled organizations at the conference, meet with negotiators and delegates from the countries in attendance and participate in events at the conference.
This year there have been two changes to make the conference venue more accessible to people with disabilities.
They would have the right to participate at workshops and events that are otherwise closed.
