Application Techniques
- Have a can with a small amount of paint thinner ready to rest your brush in
- Use a minimum amount of material
- Dip no more than a fingers width of primer onto the bristles
- Avoid scraping excess onto the edges of can - Apply primer with the bristles in a down position
- Apply primer to both the profile and glazing rabbet at the same time when they are in the lower, horizontal position
- Rotate sash 90 degrees to enable continuous priming in the horizontal down position
- Apply primer to flat face of sash once profiles and rabbbets are primed
- Apply primer to meeting rails and sash tops and bottoms once flat faces of sash are done.
- Let your brush rest between applications to sashes in your resting can.
- Use the blotter board and rag to keep the appropriate amount of primer in your brush
- Apply primer in direction parallel with grain direction
- Clean brush thoroughly after each use
