Celebrating the return of the Tata Sierra we drive the original Tata Sierra Turbo from the 1990s. And alongside we have also driven the Tata Estate that was on sale from 1992 to 2000 and got the indirect injection 1.9-litre diesel that made 68bhp. These were the first two passenger cars made by the erstwhile TELCO, predecessor to today’s Tata Motors.
In the 12th episode of evo India’s signature Gone But Not Forgotten series, editor Sirish Chandran gets behind the wheel of India’s first SUV, which also spawned the station wagon— luxury cars in the 90s that were also India’s first cars with power steering, power windows and more! These were the cars that laid the template for the Safari, Sumo and other Tata vehicles that followed!
