DELWP’s Aerial Firefighting Analytics project is building datasets and models of aircraft performance to better understand the efficiency and effectiveness of our aerial firefighting fleet. Our primary objectives at this time are:
- A dataset for analysts and researchers to support Victoria’s strategic and operational aerial firefighting decision making and investment
- A simulation-based approach for analysts to quantify the water delivery performance and costs across aircraft
- A predictive lightning model to supplement PDD activation triggers and aircraft prepositioning
