This is the real story of Clive Wearing. Clive is a British former musicologist, conductor, tenor and keyboardist who suffers from chronic anterograde and retrograde amnesia.Years ago, he caught a very common and relatively benign viral disease called the Herpes Simplex Virus. Yes, the cold sore virus. The severe complications that happened weren't quite as harmless, though. The virus passed through to his brain and caused retrograde and anterograde amnesia. He has no short term memory and no long term memory. He hasn't formed a new memory in over 20 years at the time of this documentary. He has total memory loss and everyone around him tries to cope with him not remembering anyone or anything ever. In his words, "It's basically like being dead." He is unaware of anything that isn't happening in the present. He forgets anything that happened to him in, at the most, thirty seconds. He has total memory loss and this is one of the saddest stories I've seen in a while. I don't think I needed to one-up the Smooshi and Tilikum Marineland / Seaworld video so soon, but here we are sadly lol. Sorry to ruin your day, hope you get some value out of this:)
