What to do in France
The Sautadet Waterfalls are located near La Roque-sur-Cèze, in the department of Gard and the Languedoc-Roussillon region of France.
These are a series of waterfalls and rapids with a progressive level of over 15 meters, formed on the course of the #Cèze #River. There, the transparent waters dance amid cavities and waterholes, kettles, and weirdly-shaped natural cauldrons in the 5-million-years-old limestone rocks.
The results are strangely enchanting: bubbling, moving, and surreal. Sitting by the falls and enjoying nature's lively choreography is a subtle way to rise above and see creation as it is: eternal and supreme.
When arriving at Sautadet #Falls, you will be welcome to sit back and enjoy the spectacle as you like it. You can sunbathe, bring a picnic, or stroll around the rocks until you get enough of it - freely and uninterruptedly.
You shall only remember one vital thing - as tempting as they are, the waters out there are racing and very dangerous. Visitors are strictly prohibited from getting in the water, no matter how excellent their swimming abilities are.
Not to be too dark about it, but the falls are actually widely known among the locals as "The leap of the Devil," in reference to the numerous #deaths by #drowning that have taken place here over the years. Once again - be very careful and keep yourself safe and sound!
The entrance to the site is free at all times. Yet, you will be welcomed with signs offering comprehensive safety instructions that you are expected to follow in order to keep yourself safe and in good health.
The best place to visit Cascades du #Sautadet is claimed to be in spring or after extensive snowmelts. During spring months, the falls are generally more abounding in water, and the scenery is even more captivating than usual.
So, let your adventure be safe and life-changing!
