Welcome back for the 2022 season. Caveat: This is a solar-operated camera operating in one of the cloudiest areas in the US, the Finger Lakes. Therefore, after several rainy, snowy, or cloudy days in a row, batteries are drained and the camera stops recording. The banging is the camera housing blowing in the wind. Thanks for watching the Salt Point Osprey Nest Camera, starring Orpheus and Ophelia, who have been nesting here since 2013. This year Ursula arrived before Ophelia and has moved in.
Pardon the banging of the camera housing when it is windy and the intrusion of the housing in the camera's view. Birds landing on or knocking the camera housing moves this around on occasion.
Ophelia and Orpheus have led an interesting life at Salt Point, warding off eagles and intruders, and raising strong fledglings year after year. READ about Orpheus and Ophelia and other osprey issues about Ospreys at On Osprey Time ([ Ссылка ]).

This is a motion-activated camera at the nest of Ophelia and Orpheus on Salt Point, Lansing, NY. The nest is built on a 55' utility pole a few hundred feet from the shore of fish-filled Cayuga Lake, the second largest of the beautiful eleven Finger Lakes. Thanks for watching!
