Arrival Tips
✒︎ Fly to Biarritz Airport
✒︎ Take a shuttle to Gare de Bayonne
✒︎ Take a train to Saint-Jean-Pied-de-Port
✒︎ Get a Credential in the Pilgrims Office or in one of the pilgrim hostels
✒︎ Have cash on hands as payments for logging are in cash!
Preparation Tips
Before we started our adventure in
Saint-Jean-Pied-de-Port (km 779.9 to Santiago de Compostela), we
✒︎ walked the grounds of La Citadelle
✒︎ stayed at the Albergue municipal SJPP (€12/b, takes no reservations, breakfast included)
✒︎ stocked up on food and water (supermarkets close early) as we took Route Napoleon (only recommended in a good weather)
Hiking Tips
✒︎ Start as early as possible, as the middle of the day is the hottest
✒︎ Try to break the first day into two days, staying at
Honto (km 774.7 to Santiago) :
Chambre d’Hotes (€16/b, €45-75/r)
or
Orisson (km 772.3 to Santiago):
Gite Kayola (€17/b, €44/r)
The Pyrenees' scenery is worth extra day!

in Orisson and at Fontaine de Roland (9 km away)
