Sushruta, an Indian physician widely considered the "father of plastic surgery," wrote one of the world's earliest works on medicine and surgery during the 6th century BC. Sushruta was a famous surgeon who lived in the ancient city of Kashi, which is now known as Varanasi or Benaras. He was based in the northern part of India and was known for his medical knowledge and skills.
