1. Stop right now if haven't seen the movie.
2. To this day, stunning TOP film with animals. Unbelievable.
3. STILL slides me to end of seat and chokes throat to this day. And works out okay, don't worry. Knowing that doesn't detract one bit.THAT is filmmaking perfection. Despite #4 technically making the last statement a contradiction.
4. Unrealistic core depiction of adult grizzlies (or Kodiak? Gads, it's big) in relation to other young bears. Far as current research sez; whatta we know? Key lesson from research for Glacier Park book, witness from living on the Res for 3 years and all else studied: bears have common behaviors like any class of wildlife BUT they should also be considered individuals. With individual curiosities, learned behaviors and simple personal... um, personalities. Any one adult griz could very well behave as depicted. Instead of... ah, you know, following the expected natural course by gobbling it up like any easy meal.
5. Even if despite this preview, you may be reluctant to watch it as expecting animals in distress. Yep, there's some hunters involved but no excruciating scenes or gore or horrible killings. No, scratch that. When the big bear meets up with one of the hunters, it's likely another historic scene of excruciating jawdropping OMG! Let's just say it's not on the bear's part for which you need fear. I hear the Marley and Me is a great movie but knowing how it ends, I'd just as soon jam an icepick in one ear. There's a necessary tragedy at the beginning that triggers the bear's solo adventures but entire pivot to plot and goes by quick and relatively painlessly. WELL WORTH THE REST.
