Edgar Snow, who was born in Kansas in 1905, first arrived in China in 1928. He embarked on a major journey across revolutionary areas in northwest China in 1936 and interviewed a number of top leaders of the Communist Party of China (CPC), including Mao Zedong. This series of interviews and notes from his trip culminated in the landmark book 'Red Star over China', which is regarded as Snow's most important work.
