One of the key stages in a product design process is defining the problem which you are attempting to solve, or identifying a need which you can address. Since boardgames are inherently luxury items, identifying a problem, or need, can be a challenge. In this video I categorise design problems, and present several examples of designers overcoming problems in board games such as Dominion, Robinson Crusoe, Sushi Roll, Telestrations, Magic Maze and more.
