Jammu Kashmir Elections: BJP Announces Revised List Of Candidates, Withdraws First List Within Hours
BJP releases updated list of 15 candidates for first phase of J&K elections. Earlier, it released the list of 44 candidates for all three phases of polls but later revised it, citing the need for amendments. Reportedly, several BJP leaders were unhappy over the absence of their names in the first list. One Kashmiri Pandit, Vir Saraf has been nominated from Anantnag East- Shangus marking a significant outreach to the Pandit community. BJP has also fielded only one woman candidate, Shagun Parihar from Kishtwar. J&K BJP president Ravinder Raina and former Dy. CMs Nirmal Singh and Kavinder Gupta are missing from the list. J&K assembly elections are scheduled to be held in three phases from September 18 to October 1. The results will be declared on October 4
