Epilepsy can be a disruptive and often devastating condition. Thousands of children face seizures, developmental delays and possible death from Dravet Syndrome, a rare form of treatment-resistant epilepsy characterized by frequent, prolonged seizures often triggered by high body temperature. Through advances in clinical care and ground-breaking research at Michigan Medicine, however, families have new hope. In this video, patients, families, researchers and epileptologists share their stories – highlighting both epilepsy’s impact and some exciting developments in diagnosis and treatment. Continued research and investment is needed to build upon this success and create a brighter future for those living with epilepsy.
