Magnetic domain structure of a polished Samarium-cobalt magnet was observed by an AFM and an SEM. MFM (Magnetic Force Microscopy) image, SE image, BSE image, EDX maps and EBSD results were obtained at the same area. While the MFM image and the SE image showed similar profiles for the magnetic domain, the BSE image and the EDX maps gave compositional information. The band contrast image, the phase image, and the IPF-Z image identified shapes and boundaries of crystal grains, phases (3 kinds), and crystal orientation (in Z-axis) respectively.
