The Public Trustee of Queensland (PTQ) administers the financial affairs of more than 9,000 Queenslanders.
Over recent years, the Public Trustee has undergone a journey of change, including the adoption of a structured decision-making framework, to place customers at the heart of the PTQ’s decisions. This process has included work to implement the Human Rights Act 2019 across the PTQ.
In this session, recorded on Friday, 16 September 2022, we spoke with Professor Christine Bigby, Director of LaTrobe University Living with Disability Research Centre, about the structured decision-making framework for people living with disability and how this can be applied with a human rights lens. We were also joined by Samay Zhouand, the Public Trustee of Queensland, about the PTQ’s change journey and next steps for working with adults with impaired capacity in a human rights respecting landscape.
