Redcord -- Neurac
Neurac is a method of treatment which targets the rehabilitation of functional movement patterns through high standards of neuromuscular stimulation. Due to several factors, but mainly due to the causing of pain, there is a change in motor control. It leads to the change of muscle activation when the global mover muscles overwork and the local stabilizer muscles operate faulty or sometimes become deactivated. Similar problems with those on the spinal cord can be met on other parts of the body, for example on the shoulder. Neurac Assessment has as its goal the exploration of this kind of imbalance and dysfunction (weak links) on the biomechanical chains. Neurac Assessment includes Motor Control Tests and Myofascial Chain Tests. In the Motor Control Tests what is assessed is the ability of carrying out a localized isometric contraction of the deep muscles on the spinal cord within the neutral zone through a presetting of small range or small movement. With the Myofascial Chain Tests one can assess the ability of multi-sectional movement in conjunction with the prerequired deep stabilization. Depending on the test, we assess the corresponding myofascial chain, as well as the interaction among them. The Theory of Myofascial Chains there has been for years, with the reference on the thoraco-lumbar fascia being the most known, while recent research and anatomic observation have changed the way they are perceived. The Myofascial Chain theory is based on the notion that muscles tangle among each other through fascial connections forming a myofascial chain which extends to multiple joints and has the ability to carry forces throughout its route. If a part of the chain dysfunctions, which means that there is a weak link, then the whole chain will dysfunction and often the symptoms will be far from the cause. The treatment with Neurac method is intended to restore the normal neuromuscular function and balance. Neurac treatment has four basic elements : It is a suspension exercise with controlled instability through the ropes and belts with the use of body weight in a closed kinetic chain. It is a painless method which focuses on the non-causing of pain during the treatment, while its big advantage is the ability of graduating the load using the elastic cords or activating more myofascial chains so that the most of the neuromuscular function is achieved without counterbalance. Finally, the use of vibration of the ropes increases the activation of the nociceptors, as well as the co-contraction of agonist and antagonist muscles also influencing the perception of pain.
