After 22" of Powder fell on Mt. Mansfield,VT we decided it was time to have a crack at a winter ascent of the summit. According to the ranger we spoke to we were the first group to go up this season, and subsequently had to break trail to the top. The normal route still had some rock faces, so we went up the Profanity chute. There was only 18" at the stake on the summit, and the base was thin at lower elevations, but wind sheltered areas were delivering faceshot after faceshot.
