Manila, the capital of the Philippines, is often overlooked by backpackers and travelers. It's frequently dismissed as overcrowded and a concrete jungle, but I decided to explore the historical Old Manila to see if these claims hold true.
I visited iconic landmarks such as Rizal Park, San Agustin Church, Fort Santiago, Manila Cathedral, and the Chinese Garden Bridge. To my pleasant surprise, Old Manila is rich in culture and history, with minimal traffic and a peaceful atmosphere. The presence of police and security everywhere made me feel incredibly safe.
If you're planning a trip to the Philippines, I highly recommend adding Old Manila to your itinerary. It's a hidden gem that will leave you enchanted.
