India could become the first country to approve a COVID-19 vaccine for children as young as two. A government panel has approved the locally developed Covaxin inoculation. The move is expected to allow more children to return to school after a year at home. Senior government officials have claimed that early vaccination may be the only way to end the pandemic, but others have pointed out that India still has a massive adult population that is waiting for their jabs. Only a third of the 900 million people eligible have been fully vaccinated, while almost 25% have not received a single dose.
