STORYLINE
Christian demonstrators from the United States were removed from Beijing's Tiananmen Square on Thursday.
It's the second day running the same group had gathered there to criticise China's handling of forced abortions and the Beijing government's stance on the banned Falun Gong spiritual movement.
A Chinese plain clothes policeman was amongst the security officials who stepped in and led Reverend Patrick Mahoney, director of the Christian Defence Coalition in Washington, away from the centre of the square.
Other unidentified officials used umbrellas in an attempt to obscure the protest from media cameras.
The others involved in the demonstration were the national (US) director of Generation Life, Brandi Swindell, of Boise, Idaho; and Michael McMonagle, of Philadelphia, a Catholic pro-life activist and founder of Generation Life.
