(14 Mar 2017) Former Brazilian President Dilma Rousseff said on Tuesday the "parliamentary coup" that led to her impeachment has turned into a "a coup against social rights" in Brazil.
Rousseff, who has been on a tour of several European cities over the last few weeks, said Brazilians will be able to regain their democracy when the country goes back to the polls in 2018.
Speaking at a news conference in Lisbon, she said former President Luiz Inacio Lula da Silva has a real chance of winning next year's presidential elections.
Rousseff was ousted last year for illegal management of the federal budget and then-Vice President Michel Temer took over.
Since the beginning of his mandate, Temer has pushed for a series of labour and pension reforms which were met with discontent by some.
A new wave of protests is scheduled to begin on Wednesday in Brazil with a national strike by public school teachers.
