The laptop came with a single 8GB stick. Adding another 8GB stick would not only increase the amount of RAM available, but also speed it up somewhat as it is now able to operate in dual channel mode.
Removing the plastic back panel was a bit awkward, but overall it took about 10 minutes to do this upgrade. You should probably use an anti-static wristband when working with memory like this. Either way make sure not to touch the pins on the RAM stick as you can destroy it if you're not careful.
When you're putting the screws back in, the three on the long-side near to the hinge appear to be captive, don't try to remove these all the way. The screw that secures the optical drive in place is smaller than the others.
I went with DDR4 2400 from Amazon. Link: [ Ссылка ] According to everything I've read, it makes very little difference using 2666 and in some cases 2666 can even be slower due to increased latency. 2400 was cheaper, so I went with that.
