It’s through opening ourselves through wonder the natural world reveals more of itself. We can close ourselves off without even realizing it. It takes daily rituals and time spent consciously choosing to open. Opening our senses to pay attention to more and allowing our different senses to guide us on nature play journeys of endless discovery!
My body was the guide, not my mind. My heart led me towards different landscapes where the world of wonder opened right before my eyes and ears. I was pulled by way of feeling, intuition, sound, sight, smell, and taste. I was crawling on the wet grass in the garden when an apple caught my attention. I ate that juicy ripe apple that had fallen from its tree fully engrossed in delight and fascination. Every step my foot took on the grassy path these little tiny moths danced about fluttering their faerie wings around me. I’d be guided to an area and then so much more would be uncovered and discovered. The more open in soft attentive awareness I was the more seemed to appear.
At one point in my journey I was fully aware of the magical and ordinary thread of Spirit flowing through all of life. The natural world and I were in a harmonious orchestration together. The words, “I am here” entered my awareness. Me and everyone else. I knew that to be true and by claiming my place in this world in the present moment felt like an honor and a way to show respect. It also was acknowledging the presence and existence of everyone else here too. “I am here”. It’s both personal and not. It’s universal and collective.
I talk a lot about my nature walk and talks with the Fungi these last nine years but I couldn’t help to feel and see them all around me, still sharing their medicine and wisdom, and winking at me as I gently glided past their fruiting bodies. “Nothing is what it seems or what you’ve been taught to believe. Nothing”. As I release my hold on knowing and enter the world with curious fascination so much more is revealed. Amanita shares in my Mushroom Medicine Oracle deck, “You are a unique receiver”!
