Many parents have anxiety about how much their babies are eating, is it enough, is it not enough, are their needs being met? There are a couple of things to consider. Number one, no matter how much your baby is drinking as long as they're gaining the appropriate amount of weight as determined by the pediatrician, and having at least six wet diapers a day, and regular bowel movements then that's a sign that their needs to being met. You can also pay attention to feeding cues. If your baby is acting a little bit hungry after a normal sized feeding try giving him one more ounce and see if that makes a difference. Other things can cause fussiness like gas, so you might want to consider that, and never underestimate the power of burping a baby. Typically speaking babies between three and six months of age will transition from drinking three to four ounces to drinking maybe six to eight ounces four to five times a day. This is dependent on things like are they eating solids, how well established are they them? Most babies like to eat solid food and follow it up with a formula feeding or a nursing session. Once they're eating solid foods they may drink a little bit less and that's okay as long as their needs to being met like I discussed earlier. If you have any questions about your baby's wellbeing never hesitate to ask your pediatrician because they can give you the best information after checking them out and looking over their growth trends.
