The new Pumarejo Bridge will have three lanes in each direction, in addition to platforms and bike path, for a total of 38.10 meters wide, tripling the current Bridge, which will make it one of the widest in Latin America. The board of the new bridge is equivalent to 13.3 FIFA Soccer fields.
Height
The Pumarejo bridge exceeds the old Pumarejo bridge by 29 meters, which will allow the navigation of large vessels. The new Pumarejo bridge has a 45 meter gauge.
Machinery
The machines and crane towers used for the construction of the Pumarejo bridge, were designed and built only for the bridge and the tower cranes are the largest in the country.
It is the first time that in Colombia the metallic structure is used that allows to speed up the productivity of the works, when moving as the bridge slabs are ready. The new Pumarejo bridge weighs 1,500 tons, almost three times the weight of a standard Autocimbra in the market.
Length
The new Pumarejo bridge is 2,173 meters in length and, unlike the old Pumarejo Bridge, it will have entry and exit branches to the port corridor, as well as pedestrian walkways, improving the interconnection of the sector.
Jobs
More than 1,500 jobs have been generated thanks to the works of the new Pumarejo bridge, with the population of the Atlantic and Magdalena being the main beneficiaries. Within the administrative area, 35% of the workforce corresponds to women.
Woman under the command of machinery
One of the 5 women in the country trained for the crane tower operation, is part of the works of the Pumarejo Bridge, where a 48t team operates.
Road and pedestrian cycle
Each road will have three lanes for the circulation of vehicles, but it will also have a bike path and a pedestrian path in each direction.
illumination
The bridge will have a traditional LED lighting for the transit of vehicles and ornamental lighting to highlight the structure of the Pumarejo bridge.
Piles and pylons
The foundations of the piles that make up the Pumarejo bridge are the longest in Colombia with a depth of 65 meters and 2.80 meters in diameter. For their part, the pylons, which support the cable-stayed area of the bridge, are the tallest with a length of 131 meters, measured from the base of the veneer.
